Is video therapy really effective?

Absolutely!  Whether referred to as telemental health counseling, web counseling or online counseling, it’s a great way to get help and start moving forward in your life. The convenience, ease of access and privacy of web counseling is highly desired by many, many Americans.   Research has shown that this form of care is an empowering form of counseling that promotes ease of access, and high levels of satisfaction among clients.  

While web therapy may not be right for treating some mental health conditions, numerous studies have shown video conferencing to be as or even more effective in patient outcomes and satisfaction than in-person counseling.  Also, clients enrolled in telemental health services experienced decreased numbers of admissions and days of psychiatric hospitalization.  Web counseling can increase access to addiction treatment service by removing the barriers of geography and stigma.  Clients and Counselors appreciate the comfort and convenience of videoconferencing from work or home (“My life is not interrupted”). And it may motivate some people to take that first step in seeking help.

Can you tell me about your Counselors?

A key differentiator for eVideo Counselor is our Sixth Sense™ Counselor performance model. Our model leverages technology and the attributes of our successful 6th Sense Counselors to select high quality, high-performing therapists.  All of our Counselors have a masters-level or higher academic degree, clinical work experience, and have passed state-certified licensing exams.  Also, our Counselors undergo extensive recruiting requirements, background checks and complete Confidentiality, HIPAA and performance training courses prior to becoming an eVC Counselor.

Our Counselors are specialized in specific issues including stress, anxiety, depression, addictions, eating disorders, self-esteem, trauma, family relationships, LGBT matters, grief, OCD, PTSD, panic attacks and more.  

Using metric-based feedback from M3 assessments and client satisfaction surveys, our Counselors are recognized for outstanding performance, resulting in a 91% client satisfaction rating. How do the “face to face” video counseling sessions work?

Assessing the issues and talking to a highly trained and caring professional is the starting point.  Our M3 Assessment identifies symptoms, provides a snapshot of condition severity and clinically validates if treatment is needed. Assessments at the midpoint and end of treatment measure improvement and clinical outcome.

At your first session with a Counselor, he or she will review the assessment results with you, discussing the issues and understanding what goals you identify as most important.  From this conversation, a treatment plan is developed, and steps begin to regain control and live again.

Based on your individual needs, you’ll be scheduled for a session with your Counselor or enrolled in one of our world-class treatment programs.

Now that I’ve signed up, how long until I’m matched with a Counselor?

A member of our team will contact you – typically within one business day.  Then you’ll be matched with a Counselor and scheduled for an online appointment within 3 days.

Can I be matched up with any Counselor on your team?

State law requires that all Counselors must be licensed in the state in which they practice.  That just means that we will always match you up with a highly qualified and experienced Counselor who is licensed in the state you are in.

How many counseling sessions will I need?

Every person is different.  That means that number of sessions or program design varies and will be determined based on your unique needs.

How do I know this is really confidential?  Is my information private?

We are totally obsessed about securing your privacy and confidentiality. We have built a state-of-the-art technology, operation, and infrastructure with one thing in mind: protecting your privacy and safeguarding the information you provide.

Everything you tell your Counselor is protected by strict federal HIPAA laws and state laws where applicable.  Every single platform we use, including Therapy Notes and our video counseling and texting systems are 100% confidential and HIPAA compliant.

If you want any of your information or records to be released to a third party, such as your primary care physician or psychiatrist, please let your Counselor know. Your Counselor will send you an authorization form that you will need to fill and sign before your information can be released. Of course, we will never disclose your services with us to anyone without your specific permission. Even with your permission, details of treatment and what happens during sessions is never disclosed.
